Bull Creek Hills
A nice 14km hike on a warm spring day! Lots of up then lots of down. Snow in areas but relatively dry. Did this April 2, 2021. The full loop was almost in sight but we did a detour and came back almost the same way we went up.

Rocky Ridge
First hike of 2021! This short out and back was done March 13, 2021. After a couple weeks of above 0, we decided to try a hike instead of a snowshoe. Trail was hard packed snow but was melted just enough that it wasn’t ice. Windy at the top of the knoll where we turned.

Bull Creek Hills
I’m a bit late posting this. We did this hike April 28, 2019 (Curtis and I). We weren’t sure on conditions so we just winged it for location. It’s our second official hike of the season so we wanted something relatively easy. We couldn’t really find any trails; it seemed like they came and went…

Murray Creek Snowshoe
We did this snowshoe on Saturday January 26, 2019. Present company was Curtis and myself. This was the first time we’ve been out snowshoeing for almost 2 years. We didn’t hike much in the summer either due to wildfires so we wanted something short but sweet. Today’s forecast was supposed to be above 0 so…

East End of Burns
We did this hike Sunday June 24, 2018. I did some reading and discovered this hike was relatively forgotten; not much was written and not many people seemed to hike it. We parked at the end of the Sheep River road and began our hike. I knew we would need to do some bushwhacking from…

Hailstone Butte
We did this hike Saturday May 26, 2018. Present company was Sheldon, Curtis and I. We were originally going to do Pasque Mountain but we couldn’t cross the creek; it was too fast and too cold to risk it. Sentinel mountain is along the same road, just further down (not to be confused by the…

Gunnery Mountain
This was the first hike of the season for three of us. We did it Saturday April 28, 2018. Present company was Sandy, Ryan, Curtis and I. It took about 4.5 hours and we gained around 600m elevation. The hike has 2 trailheads. We chose the one a bit further down the road (the second…

Boom Lake
It’s a nice, short hike if you are in Banff or Lake Louise and looking for something to do. It wasn’t crowded the day we went out, but I have driven past when there are cars parked along the highway – it can get busy.
